Dr. Ashley Powell earned a B.S. in Psychology at UNC-Chapel Hill and later earned a doctorate of optometry at the UAB School of Optometry in Birmingham, Alabama. During optometry school she completed rotations at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, UNC Ophthalmology, Alabama Family Eye Care, and the Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation. After graduation, Dr. Powell completed a residency in Primary Care at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. While she enjoys many aspects of optometry, she has a particular interest in dry eye, myopia management, and all types of contact lenses. ​​​​​​

​​​​​​​Originally from NC, Dr. Powell now lives in Pittsboro with her husband and their four children. She enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, exploring new things with her children, and spending time with friends and family.
